Bathurst Golf vets report for game played July 10
Hi everyone,
The saying that “The game is not over until the fat lady comes out to sing” run very true in today’s comp with the last group syndrome striking again.
Playing early, Bill Dickie had a score of 35 points to lead the field for most of the morning, until Andrew Stapleton, playing in the second last group knock him off the podium on a countback, but Andrew didn’t last on the lead for very long. Peter Heffernan playing in the last group took over first place with 38 points, but his stay on the lead was even shorter than Andrew’s as Danny Gooley put in the last card of the day with and excellent score of 41 points to win the comp.
Moral to the story is that that you have to bring your best golf game when you play vets on Mondays and don’t believe you are a winner until the last group comes in.
On to results.
The voucher winners were, Danny Gooley 1st, Peter Heffernan 2nd, Andrew Stapleton 3rd, Bill Dickie 4th and Neville McMichael 5th on a count back from Geoff Tindall, Brian Little, Robert Peachman, Arthur Clancy, and David Gates all on 33 points.
The ball sweep went down to 30 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin went to Andrew Stapleton on the 4th, Alex Blackett the 8th, Neville McMichael the 13th, and Martin Everett the 16th.
