Nothing better than a drink and a yarn after a game of vets' golf

Bathurst Golf Vets' report for game played Monday, July 8

Hi everyone,

A good field of 23 Bathurst vets ignored the weather predictions and fronted up for a game of Monday Vet’s golf, and as a reward for their tenacity the rain stayed away for most part of the morning and it was only the last two groups who had to put up with slight rain towards the end of their game.

Golf report.

Once again you really need to bring your A game and play to your handicap or better when you play vets golf if you want to win a voucher or even win a ball on the ball sweep. Best on the day today was Andrew Stapleton taking out the winner’s voucher with an excellent 37 points. Second place went Russell McCarthy with 36 points on a countback from Jonathan Manton.

The ball sweep went down to 32 points on a countback.

Winning a ball on the nearest to the pin competition is getting just as hard as winning the comp with all the winners hitting their shots inside 4 feet. John Fagan was the winner on the 4th, Graham Lee took out the 8th, Arthur Clancy got the 13th and Gary Pomeroy played the best shot of the day when he hit his tee shot to 95cm on the 16th. Unfortunately, he is still kicking himself for missing the birdie putt.
