Bathurst Golf Vets report for game played Monday, June 17

Hi everyone,

A short note to start with to let you know that I will not be available next week. Peter Chaffey will be deputising on my behalf, and he will process the comp results and send them on to Golflink as usual. However, you will not get a game report until I get back a week later.

On to today’s game

Another good field of 37 vet golfers, including four visitors from the Wentworth club, played a game of golf on a very pleasant winter morning of beautiful sunshine spoiled by a not so pleasant wind late in the game.

Game results.

A countback was required to decide today’s winner when Peter Chaffey and Geoff Coleman both returned scores of 36 points. Geoff started off like a house on fire with 22 points on the front nine, but a not so good back nine of 14 point left the door open for Peter take out first place with two solid nine of 18 points.

Another countback was also required to find third and fourth place when Trevor Kingham and Jim Brilley both had rounds of 35 points. Trevor took out third place with a better back nine of 18 pints to Jim’s 14 points.

The ball sweep went down to 29 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Dave Harvey on the 4th, Gary Miles on the 8th, Jock Tompson on the 13th and Russ McCarthy on the 16th.

Next round of Bathurst vets golf will be on Monday June 24.

Next round of Central West vets will be at Bathurst on July 1. It will be a big day so get your name in early if you have a prefer starting time.
