Bathurst Golf vets report for Monday, June 3

Hi everyone,

Another very good field of 47 Bathurst vet golfers played a round of vet’s golf on a typical Bathurst early winter day of thick early morning fog and beautiful sunshine for the rest of the day.

The weather was cold, but it had no effect on the quality of the golf with golfers having to play well above their handicap to get a winners’ voucher.

Best of all on the day was Simon Dundon with an excellent 39 points. Simon’s round could only be described as a “Mixed Grill”, it had everything. On the front none he had 3 misses, 3 bogies, 1 par and 2 birdies for 17 points. He was far more consistent on the back nine with 3 bogies and 5 pairs with his only blemish being a triple bogie on the 10 for a solid nine of 22 points.

Doug Collins also played some very solid golf today to claim second spot with 38 points. Doug had an excellent first nine of 23 points that included a birdie on the very difficult 5th hole. Unfortunately, the second nine were not as good with only 15 points.

Trevor Kingham was third with a very honest 36 points. Trevor had a slow start on the first nine for 16 points but made amends on the second nine with a solid 20 points.

A four-way countback was required to decide the last two winning places when Geoff Marshall, Bob Lockhart, David Dowler and Neil Larcombe all returned scores of 35 points. Geoff’s last nine of 21 points and Bob’s 19 points got both over the line for the last two vouchers.

David and Neil had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep which went down to 30 points.

The nearest to the pin winners were Doug Collins on the 4th, Bill Lambert on the 8th, Peter Chaffey on the 13th and no-one on the 16th.

Full results,

Due to the long weekend there will be no vet’s game at Bathurst on Monday June 10, which will be a good opportunity to play with the Central West vets at Molong golf course.

Molong is a walk up start so get there between 8:00 to 9:00 to get a game.

Cheers everyone
